The Arms of the Royal Military College

The arms of the Royal Military College (on the left) feature a tripartite shield- a blue section with a scaling ladder leading to a mural crown (military engineering), a red section with crossed swords (infantry), and a gold chief with three grenades (artillary). In centre is an inescutcheon bearing the Union Jack, honouring the role of the military college and its alumni in defending the country and empire in various wars. This is not a College of Arms grant, but a grant by Royal Warrant.

The the crest is an armoured arm (again, militaristic) holding three green maple leaves, below the British crown.

To the right are the arms of the now-defunct Collge Militaire Royal, closed a few years ago due to budget cuts. The shield shows crossed swords (military), an open book (education), along with fleur-de-lys and maple leaves (Quebec and Canada). In the chief are three mural crowns (fortification/engineering). The crest is nearly identical to that of the RMC. These were granted by the Canadian Heraldry Authority, shortly before the CMR was closed.

The Royal Roads Military College was also armigerous, but I do not have an image of their arms (the crest is similar to the crests of the other colleges, but with red and white maple leaves). It is also now defunct, and has been reincarnated as Royal Roads University.

Images sent by John Coo of the RMC.
