This is the full version of the Allan branch of my family tree, or at least as full as I can get it.

The earliest Allan we know of is James Allan, of Dailly, Ayr (now in the Carrick region of Strathclyde). He was a coalminer, and married Ann Davidson. He was born in the early 1800's, married in April of 1832, and was deceased by 1876. We know he had at least one son William Allan (1851-1940), and we suspect that he had two older daughters, one of whom had an illegitimate son James. The younger James appears twice in our records, once in a census (which shows him as a coalminer born in 1854, living with his grandmother Ann Allan (see below)), and once as a witness on William's marriage certificate.
William's mother, Ann Davidson, was born in November of 1808. Her parents were John Davidson, a coalcutter at Kilgrammy (we think his parents were Andrew Davidson and Mary Craig), born in 1789, and Agnes McMaster, born in April of 1785 (we think her parents were Archibald McMaster and Janet Kennedy)- the two were married in December of 1807.
William Allan married Mary Kirkland Manson (b 1851 in Barr, daughter of George Manson, a labourer, and Margaret Kirkland) on Aug 4, 1876. Witnesses were James Allan and Jane Kirkland.

William and Mary had several children:
James (b 1877)
Margaret Kirkland (b 1879)
William (b 1885)
Annie (b 1888)
George (b 1890)
Mary Kirkland Manson (Aug 24, 1892- Nov 1965).

Mary Kirkland Manson Allan moved to Canada and married Ralph Harry Willie George in 1922.
